Japanese Sake Breweries Database is a free, English-language reference to 89 sake breweries across 40 of Japan's prefectures — built for English-speaking travellers, importers, and enthusiasts who cannot read the Japanese-language sources these records come from.
Japan keeps detailed public records on its sake producers, but almost all of it exists only in Japanese. Travellers who want to know which breweries they can actually visit — and what to expect when they get there — have very little to work from in English. This site exists to close that gap.
Brewery listings are compiled from publicly available records and from the information breweries publish about themselves. Founding years and signature brands reflect what each brewery states publicly.
Japanese Sake Breweries Database is an independent project and is not affiliated with any Japanese government agency, industry body, or brewery. Not every sake brewery accepts visitors, and opening hours, tour availability and admission fees change without notice — always confirm with the brewery directly before travelling. While we work to keep these records accurate, we make no warranty as to their completeness or timeliness.
